A Journey with Heights

The minute you find out you are going to be a parent, you start to plan. Among the giant list of things to plan for, quality childcare and schooling most likely fall among the top three.  The search for excellence is harder than it looks, and most parents want to find one place, the best place, and then stick with it for the long run. With Heights, you can do just that.  Once you start your journey with Heights, you can stay with Heights for many, many years, avoiding constant change and providing consistency in academic rigor, programming, and community.

Hannah and Ellie are two junior high students currently attending our Bluefield campus. While students join the Heights community at a variety of ages, both Hannah and Ellie began their journey with Heights at 8 and 12 weeks of age respectively.

Starting in our Infant Program, the girls learned to walk, eat solid foods, form words, and share toys under the watchful eye of our nurturing infant caregivers who made sure they were lovingly cared for each day.

As they ventured into the tricky twos, these two girls moved together into our Preschool Program where a strong foundation of early literacy, numeracy, and motor development was built as they explored, investigated, created, and played under the watchful eye of our incredible preschool teachers who not only made sure that they were lovingly cared for each day but also ensured that they were developmentally prepared for the challenges of formal school that were just around the corner. Their parents blinked and preschool graduation was upon them, thus thrusting these two little girls into formal school.

During the eight years that followed, Hannah and Ellie attended our Summer Fun Program together each summer and journeyed through our Elementary Program side by side all the while under the watchful eye of our highly qualified elementary teaching staff. Their elementary years were marked by huge milestones as each girl learned to read, compute, think critically, and ultimately accept the free gift of salvation as they each accepted Jesus into their hearts in the first grade.

As they move through their final two years with Heights in our Junior High Program, their ability to see the world from a Christian worldview is being strengthened, their individual talents and interests are being developed, and their understanding of who they are in Christ is being solidified under the watchful eye of our junior high team, each specially trained to work with teenagers and partner with parents during the early adolescent years.

Hannah and Ellie, along with their classmates, families, caregivers, teachers, and administrators are Heights. From babies being dropped off in their car seats to teenagers being dropped off in the carline, it has been and continues to be a pleasure to watch these two ladies grow.

At Heights, both girls, and their families, have found Faith, Family, and Community.
