Our inspired young performers at Heights Christian Schools (HCS) La Mirada Campus will bring the Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, and other favorite Dr. Seuss characters to life when they stage the heartwarming musical Seussical JR. at Whittier Community Theatre.
Scripted entirely in rhyme, Seussical JR. presents a story of friendship, loyalty, and love and ultimately teaches us all the power of being unique, and the importance of fighting for our beliefs amid life’s many ups and downs. As the show proclaims, “Why fit in when you were born to stand out?”
Two talented Heights student casts will perform the show. Performances by the Jungle cast are scheduled for Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 12pm and 7pm; and Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 7pm. Performances by the Who cast are scheduled for Friday, April 12 ,2024 at 12pm and 7pm; and Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 1pm. All performances are at Whittier Community Theatre located at 7630 Washington Avenue in Whittier.
Tickets are $10. Purchase tickets at https://www.tickettailor.com/events/heightschristianschools.
The show was co-conceived by Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty, and Eric Idle and is based on the works of Dr. Seuss. The music was supervised, adapted and produced by Bryan Louiselle. Directing the Heights adaptation is our own Paula Poulis. The creative team working with her includes Brittany Lee, Nicole Nicodemus, Tiffany Koopson, and Isabel Carter.
Here at Heights, we offer strong fine and performing arts programs with choir, musical theatre, a variety of band options, and art classes for ages K-8 with the knowledge that the inclusion of the arts in a student’s education is a wonderful way to cultivate and strengthen their relationship with Jesus.
