The education landscape has undergone significant changes in recent years with a notable increase in homeschooling, largely attributed to the widespread implementation of remote learning during the pandemic. While educators and staff worked tirelessly to adapt to this new model, and it proved effective in certain scenarios, there were some challenges presented.
One of the primary concerns was the difficulty in replicating crucial hands-on learning experiences in a virtual setting. Subjects like science and art curricula faced obstacles in delivering the tactile, experiential learning that is so vital for student comprehension and engagement.Furthermore, the extended period of distance education had unforeseen consequences on student well-being with reported increased instances of stress, anxiety, and social isolation among students.
The extraordinary burden placed on parents during this time, found caregivers in the challenging position of balancing professional obligations with the supervision of their children's education, a role they were thrust into with little preparation.
At Heights, we view these challenges as opportunities for growth and innovation. Recognizing the diverse needs of families, the school system continually strives to adapt and offer a wide array of flexible learning options. This commitment extends to supporting parents who choose to homeschool their children, understanding that every family's educational approach may be unique.
