ABOUT HEIGHTS CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

matthew 19:14

WHO WE ARE

At Heights Christian Schools, we provide a secure and nurturing educational environment for children, infants through 8th grade, on seven school campuses spread throughout Southern California.

Since 1981, we have been honored to partner with supportive parents, who unite school with home and church to positively develop Christian values and lifestyles in our students. We are committed to our mission, vision, and core values and have an uncompromising commitment to meeting the needs of each student. Each of our schools provides a small campus feel where students are known by name and embraced as individuals, with the support, resources and collaboration of a large, well-established Christian school district.

Parents who choose Heights not only choose to invest in their child's education, but also in the shaping of who their child is and how their child views the world. Helping students develop a Christian worldview is of the highest importance and at Heights, you are guaranteed a high-quality teacher who not only loves children and education but also loves the Lord and is committed to Christian values and seeking Christ first.

Our Mission

Our mission is to lead children and their families into a relationship with Jesus Christ, equipping them in heart and mind to influence the world for God’s Kingdom.

Our Vision

Our vision is that all students will know Christ personally, excel academically, think biblically, and positively impact their communities for Christ. HCS will be the standard of excellence in education for students of all learning abilities, teaching from a distinctively biblical worldview.

A Journey with Heights

The minute you found out you were going to be a parent, you probably started to plan. Among the giant list of things to plan for, quality childcare and schooling most likely fell among the top three. The search for excellence is harder than it looks, and most parents want to find one place, the best place, and then stick with it for the long run. With Heights, you can do just that. One of the best things about Heights is that once you start your journey with us, you can stay with us for many, many years, avoiding constant change and providing consistency in academic rigor, programming, and community.

Hannah and Ellie are two junior high students currently attending our Bluefield campus. While students join the Heights community at a variety of ages, both Hannah and Ellie began their journey with Heights at 8 and 12 weeks of age, respectively.

Faith

There is comfort in knowing that the men and women who spend each day with your child believe what you believe and value what you value. At Heights, you will find just that – a staff comprised of men and women who believe in the absolute truth of the Bible and have personally accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior. A staff that is committed to teaching each lesson from a distinctly Christian worldview, infusing Biblical truth into daily conversations, and modeling genuine love and grace toward others. A staff that seeks to lead children into a relationship with Jesus, equipping them with the tools needed to not only take the initial step of faith but also defend that faith when necessary.

Daily Bible lessons, dedicated worship periods, weekly chapel gatherings, frequent prayer times, and intentional Biblical integration across all areas of study work together to encourage and foster individual relationships with the Lord.

Family

Think back to your childhood and trips you might have taken to your grandma’s house. What feelings immediately come to mind? Safety, security, a sense of belonging and familiarity, the feeling that it was simply an extension of your own home. When you step on any of our seven campuses, those same feelings are what we hope you will immediately find.

The structure of Heights allows for our campuses to each have the backing and support of a large organization while still maintaining the small, family feel that so many parents desire for their young children. Our schools offer a sense of safety and security, familiarity and belonging, and the undeniable feeling that school is an extension of the home as our staff works hard to partner with parents in the education of their children.

Community

We have all heard the saying, “it takes a village.” Yes, it certainly does! The truth is that while raising kids is a lot of fun, raising kids is also a lot of work! Hard work! And, raising kids who can work cooperatively and think of others before themselves is a lot of really, hard work! Thankfully, Heights is here to help. Not only does Heights provide a strong community for both you and your child to thrive in, but it also seeks to build a sense of love and compassion within the hearts of our students for other communities, both local and global, equipping each child with the skills and tools necessary to work together and make a difference in this world.

From award assemblies that acknowledge individual student effort and growth in the classroom, to student participation in clubs, teams, and events that foster talents and abilities in a group setting, to campus-wide service projects that aim to provide much needed items to others in need, your student will not only be an important part of the Heights community but actively working with others to impact the local and global communities as well.

Heights History: Then & Now

In 1981, the very first HCS campus, formerly known as Brea-Olinda Friends Christian School, was established by HCS founder and veteran educator, Mrs. Betty Kimes along with Pastor Bob Webster, both of whom felt called to bring excellent Christian education to their community. Over the years, this small elementary school has grown into Heights Christian Schools; a thriving system of 12 school programs housed on seven campuses, educating over 2,000 students each year ranging in age from six weeks to 14 years.

Our schools are highly regarded in the Christian school community for their quality programming, exemplary staff, solid Bible-based teaching, and the promotion of strong Christian values among our students. Each of our schools provide a small campus feel where students and their families are known by name and embraced as individuals, partnered with the support, resources and collaboration of a large, well-established school system. Currently, our schools serve the communities in and around Brea, Chino, Chino Hills, La Habra Heights, and La Mirada.

WHAT WE DO

Our Core Values

Centered on Christ

We believe that Christ should be at the center of all that we do through action, word and deed. Our employees are first and foremost ministers of the gospel, called of God to lead others to Christ, and to use their gifts, talents and abilities for God’s glory.

Colossians 1:18, John 1:17

Focused on All Students

We believe that God created each of us in a unique and intentional way, and that God has a special plan and purpose for our lives. HCS approaches the education of students in the same manner by meeting the needs of each learner, seeing every child as an opportunity for ministry, and providing a safe, caring and nurturing environment

Genesis 1:26-27, Psalm 139:13-16

Rooted in Partnership with Parents

We believe God has entrusted the primary responsibility of education to the parents and HCS strives to partner with them.

We value open communication and close collaboration with our families.

Proverbs 22:6, Deuteronomy 6:7
